Apple Independent Repair Provider Program

On August 29, 2019 Apple announced the Independent Repair Provider program, which it has since rolled out across the United States, Canada and more than 30 European countries. This program allows qualifying organisations to perform Apple Authorised out-of-warranty service on iPhones and other Apple products including Mac computers. Already, some 140 independent repair companies have qualified in the Untied States alone providing well over 700 Apple Independent Repair Provider locations throughout the country. Many more are currently qualifying in Europe and Canada. These new repair locations are in addition to the more than 5,000 AASPs and 500 Apple Stores throughout the world, making access to quality, Authorised repair much easier.

What’s the differences between an IRP and an AASP? Like AASPs, IRPs have access to up-to-date online training through ATLAS (Apple Technical Learning Administration System), and online resources through GSX (Global Service Exchange) from which they can download manuals, and order genuine parts and tools. Additionally, they also must comply with Apple’s strict guidelines on safety, professionalism and customer care. IRPs, though, are limited with regard to what kinds of repairs they can perform, e.g. warranty servicing is not included.

As an International Apple Consultant, Apple Certified Trainer, and AppleCare Mentor Trainer, I'm here to help. I  built my own independent repair business, became an Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP), then gained Apple Premium Service Provider status. Since then, I have spent the last five years training at and consulting with companies and individuals all over the world as they embark on, or continue their journey to become Independent Repair Providers (IRP), Apple Authorised Service Providers (AASP), Apple Premium Service Providers (APSP) or Self Servicing Account (SSA) holders.
