HOW TO BECOME AN ACiT
As of 2 May 2016, Apple requires that all current “iOS Qualification” technicians pass two new exams before 3 November 2016:
• Apple Service Fundamentals Exam (SVC-16A)
• ACiT 2016 iOS Service Certification Exam (iOS-16A)
These exams and their accompanying training materials can be accessed by:
1. Those working at AASPs and SSAs, using their GSX account to view the courses in ATLAS, then registering for the exams through Pearson VUE.
2. Members of the public, by purchasing AppleCare Technician Training.
Whether you work for an Apple Authorised Service Provider or are seeking to gain the certification independently there are normally two paths open to you:
1. Self-study. This approach suits highly motivated individuals who have access to the appropriate resources, tools and processes. If you do not have a GSX account and access to ATLAS then you would be required to first purchase AppleCare Technician Training.
2. Attending a four-day course at an Apple Authorised Training Centre (AATC). This will typically cost around €2,000 (plus tax). Of course, accommodation and travel would also need to be taken into account if the course is not in the city where you live. This is an appealing approach as the the training centre will provide all of the necessary guidance and resources - whether you are new to field or upgrading from the now-obsolete Apple iOS Qualification.
However, there is a third option…
Apple Certified iOS Technician
(ACiT) 2019
Apple Certified iOS Technician (ACiT) 2019 is a four-day course that prepares participants to become certified in troubleshooting iPhone or iPad, and repairing iPhone models at an Apple-authorized service facility. Through interactive discussions and hands-on exercises, participants learn setup, navigation, features, and associated services of iOS devices. Participants also learn how to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair iOS devices. Participants’ knowledge and skills are tested and reinforced by working through real-world scenarios in hands-on labs.
